Fashionizer Spa launches new sustainable fabric

Spa uniform provider, Fashionizer Spa, has developed a new sustainable fabric style – Eco-Smooth.

The fabric is developed with eco-friendly technologies and will be used to create a new uniform style – the Aurora Tunic. Additional styles will be added to the in-stock range and sold online.

The fabric combines the properties of organic cotton with Newlife PET – Fashionizer Spa’s fabric which is crafted from recycled plastic bottles.

Eco-Smooth is composed of 60 per cent organic cotton, 37 per cent Newlife PET and three per cent Lycra.

Similar to polyester, Eco-Smooth has a smooth texture and is durable, but uses a more eco-friendly manufacturing process than regular polyester.

Fashionizer Spa has set a goal to become a fully sustainable company in both their products and processes in 2020. In the past five years, the brand has adopted three other sustainable fabrics including Linen, Tencel and PET for its uniforms.

Debbie Leon, Fashionizer Spa’s managing director, said: “Our journey to a more environmentally friendly business is more of a marathon than a sprint.

“We hope to lead the market in finding solutions for a more sustainable world, and inspire others to do so in return. We’ll be encouraging the industry to follow us on us on our eco-voyage.”
